     SIMPLY YOGA'S VISION

Namaste' and welcome  to our studio and your Yoga community/sangha! Yoga is not just a class, it is a lifestyle. I am Mindy, and want to share a few words with you as my intention is to give the community a safe place to connect with themselves as well as others. Myself and teachers will share with you all we have learned and continue to learn about removing blocks that allow you to live peacefully and free. Learn, not only the obvious physical practice of Yoga, but also the in depth practice of finding stillness; the true reason we practice Yoga.  Practicing challenging physical poses, with a quiet mind, teaches us how to embrace difficult situations, or "poses" in life while keeping peaceful. With us, learn how to be flexible in the body and in the mind.We strive to make Yoga accessible to anybody and everyone, no matter the age or ability, we provide classes for everyone.  We take pride in being the only studio who is  offering Wellness Yoga classes to people with cancer or in recovery.  We promote health and wellness on every level and encourage people to make the connection of body, mind, and spirit-the true meaning of Yoga,Union.Simply Yoga is under my direction, Mindy Leventhal. I have been a registered Yoga teacher for  8 years, and I am living and learning much as a Yogini. I  have been practicing for over 15 years and wish to share all the gifts of Yoga and the benefits received through a regular practice to all . My vision is to create a safe place comfortable for all  to be able to  practice, breathe and renew. I feel that Simply Yoga is thriving with wonderful, positive  energy and is  truly for the benefit of helping others. The studio offers something for everyone and tries to accomodate all. Please come share in our energy and the friendliness of all who call it their Yoga Home! With a regular, consistent practice, the benefits are feelings of peace, calm, flexibility, vitality and renewed energy! Simply Yoga is a wonderful place to feel at home and connect with others with mutual interests. I believe that my vision to keep Simply Yoga alive is truly for the benefit of all ! I feel much gratitude and appreciation for this life of Yoga.
Peace, Love and Light to all......
Mindy

YOGA INFORMATION

Yoga, meaning 'yoke' in Sanskrit, is a family of ancient spiritual practices originating in India.  The diversity within Yoga philosophy itself is traditionally classified into four main branches: Karma Yoga (yoga of action/selfless service), Jnana Yoga (yoga of knowledge), Bhakti Yoga (yoga of devotion), and Raja Yoga (yoga of meditation), but other classifications do exist. It remains a vibrant living tradition in which the common goal of all branches is attainment of enlightenment.

In the later half of the twentieth century, a co-movement of Yoga teachers to the West and travelers coming to India to study Yoga led to a great rise in teaching of Yoga in western countries. As with Yoga itself, these teachings are incredibly diverse but it can be said that outside India, Yoga has become primarily associated with the asanas (postures) of Hatha Yoga (a development within Raja Yoga placing more emphasis on physical practice than meditation).  Ancient Hindu texts establishing the basis for yoga include the Upanishads, the Bhagavad Gita, the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, the Hatha Yoga Pradipika and many others, which specify the criteria of having successfully mastered a particular yoga technique.

Within the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, the eight limbs (Ashtanga) of Yoga are listed and explained.  They are Yama (ethical standards), Niyama (self discipline/observances), Asanas (postures), Pranayama (breathing),  Pratyahara (withdrawal/sensory transcendence), Dharana (concentration), Dyana (Meditation), Samadhi (enlightenment or ecstasy).  These eight steps basically act as guidelines on how to live a meaningful and purposeful life. They serve as a prescription for moral and ethical conduct and self-discipline; they direct attention toward one's health; and they help us to acknowledge the spiritual aspects of our nature.

HEARTFELT SUCCESSES IN OUR COMMUNITY...these comments make every day blessed...

"I wanted to tell you that my class yesterday with Tammy was indeed an experience of multi dimensional proportions. Her caring, energizing spirit coupled with her solid knowledge base provided me with an optimum experience. She is a treasure, so safety minded with my knee issue, a lovely lady ! Your studio is an ideal setting, an oasis of calm!"

"I am enjoying your studio and the classes very much. It's been an incredible journey and I am loving all the new experiences. It's like being on the threshold of a whole new world and I am excited for all the discovery. And the end results are just fantastic. I have never felt so healthy, so calm & balanced. It's awesome." l.m.

" It is necessary to let you know today's class was incredible! Julie is serene, articulate & beautifully poised with a splash of humor. The more classes I attend, the more I love SimplyYoga.  4 out of the 6 in our group had never set foot in a studio. The fifth, my friend, Natacha practices sporadically.  In the end, we all left with a lightness, barely skimming the ground as we let our Sunday come to us.
I was drawn to your studio intuitively and feel blessed to have a new loving space in which to practice. Furthermore, it's flat out great to be able to invite my friends who are new to the practice (and more intimidated than they'd like to admit) to a haven without pretense or ego." V.Z.

"Thanks Mindy you helped me change my being"... C.C.

"Thanks Mindy. I feel so blessed to have found your studio, I can't believe it was right under my nose for so long and I just discovered it now. Better now than never! The variety of classes is great. I've told all my friends and clients how awesome I feel after one of your classes. I'll be around and look forward to my next class." E.D.

"Thanks so much for offering the free week. It definitely convinced me to join the studio, and I probably would not have even tried if my friend hadn’t told me about the free week. So, it works! Thanks for having such a great studio!" C.B.
